Goodman Manufacturing, a member of the Daikin Group, the world’s largest manufacturer of HVAC products and systems, wanted to provide better quality product information to distributors and trading partners in a timely manner, and as a part of that effort, they contacted Amplifi to discuss building an Ecommerce site.
Our Information Management consultants dug into Goodman’s business processes with their internal teams only to better understand the enterprise architecture and workflows. We found that the ownership of data between people & systems was unclear. This was fueled by many sources of information (systems, spreadsheets, documents, people) with no definitive rules or guidelines. Adding to these challenges, the fact that Goodman’s digital assets were stored in various locations with no way to link them to products for web presentation made the client’s Ecommerce aspirations difficult to undertake.
Amplifi’s consultants implemented a Product Information Management (PIM) system to serve as the single source of truth for product information as well as a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system to streamline associating product images and videos with master records for easy enhancement and syndication. Goodman’s internal teams were able to centrally manage data in a single place (touch it once and syndicate everywhere, automatically). This feature allowed them to quickly add rich content as the market demands and be able to deliver accurate, complete and high-quality data to all channels in a timely manner (hours, not days or weeks). Goodman was able to improve the delivery of information to multiple channels and were empowered to add an Ecommerce channel that had previously been missing.
