What is Data Migration?

Data Migration refers to the process of moving data between locations, systems or formats. This usually occurs in the context of a new systems implementation, where data in one or more legacy systems or formats needs to be transferred to the new system in a format that it can understand. Moving business applications from on-premise to cloud is also a key driver for data migration projects. Data Quality management is a key component of a successful data migration, as it helps ensure that the data held in legacy systems is fit for purpose before being moved to its destination.
