A leading global manufacturer of outdoor apparel, known for its technical innovation and durable performance gear, partnered with Amplifi to modernize its product information landscape.

Fragmented systems, siloed teams, and a lack of global data governance were slowing down innovation and creating inconsistencies across the business. Amplifi was engaged to lead a multi-year, enterprise-wide transformation to bring clarity, control, and strategic alignment to the product data journey.

Data Challenges: Fragmented systems and brand silos

Managing tens of thousands of SKUs across multiple product categories, brands, and global markets, this outdoor apparel manufacturer faced significant data management challenges. With extensive seasonal lines, regional variants, and multilingual requirements, the complexity was further amplified by operations spanning North America, Europe, and Asia, and a global supply chain with dozens of factories and independently operating brands.

Before partnering with Amplifi, the manufacturer was managing product data across multiple systems with little consistency or data governance. Each brand within the business operated independently, leading to conflicting definitions, duplicated effort, and significant friction when trying to scale or collaborate across markets. There was no shared operating model, and product processes varied wildly between teams and regions.

Further complicating the initiative was the organization’s prior experience with a failed PIM implementation, which left internal stakeholders skeptical about change and cautious about committing to a new approach. With no clear definition of a minimum viable product (MVP) for the new system and competing brand priorities, the organization needed both a strategic advisor and a trusted implementation partner.

Amplifi was selected to lead the design and deployment of a global Product Information Management (PIM) solution that could support the business now and scale into the future.

Solution: Aligning on vision with a phased rollout

To avoid repeating past mistakes, Amplifi and the client agreed to separate the discovery phase from the broader implementation. This allowed for a focused effort to align on a clear, realistic MVP and define a long-term rollout data strategy that would serve the needs of all brands and regions.

During discovery, Amplifi worked closely with stakeholders to map the organizational landscape, identify key challenges, and build consensus around a phased rollout plan. A global data model was designed to ensure harmonization across brands, enabling the team to increase velocity as additional business units joined the program.

Amplifi also played a critical role in helping the client navigate its transition to Agile delivery. While the organization had recently adopted this approach, Amplifi recommended a hybrid approach for the MVP delivery to balance speed with stability and protect against scope creep. Roles and responsibilities were clearly defined across technical teams, especially around integrations, allowing for a smooth and collaborative implementation process.

Results: Foundation for long-term success

By investing the time upfront to align stakeholders and define a shared vision, the organization was able to create a strong foundation for global PIM success on the Salsify platform. Teams across brands and regions are now working from a harmonized workflow with a standardized data model, significantly reducing duplication and wasted effort during brand rollouts.

A clearly defined implementation roadmap has brought consistency to product information processes and enabled better change management across the enterprise. The organization is now positioned to roll out their PIM platform at pace, with a scalable data strategy and unified data governance model that supports future growth, innovation, and digital transformation.
