What is data strategy?

There are many interpretations of the term 'Data Strategy', but at Comma we like the following definition, from MIT: "[A data strategy is] a central, integrated concept that articulates how data will enable and inspire business strategy.” This, for us, sums up the key ingredient of a data strategy: identifying the importance of data in achieving the overall business objective. The data strategy should describe how data will help meet key business goals, along with key data initiatives and organisational changes required to support this.
