Azure Solution Architect
Salary: £70,000-90,000 Location: UK Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
As an Azure Solution Architect, you will play a key role in designing, shaping and overseeing the delivery of cloud-based solutions for Amplifi’s clients. This role has a broad Azure focus with a strong grounding in architecture, best practice and governance, while also incorporating Microsoft Fabric where appropriate as part of modern data and analytics platforms. You will support client delivery across the full project lifecycle, from pre-sales and solution design through to implementation and optimisation. You will act as a trusted technical advisor to clients and internal teams, guiding engineers and consultants who are developing new Azure-based solutions and accelerators, many of whom are still building their experience in the platform. The role is primarily client-facing and will also involve contributing to Amplifi’s internal capability by creating reusable assets, standards, reference architectures and best practice guidance. In time, this role may include line management responsibilities as the Azure practice grows.

THE ROLE:

You must already hold the following certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
WHAT YOU'LL BE GETTING UP TO:
Solution Architecture & Delivery
- Design, define and oversee Azure-based solution architectures aligned to client requirements and industry best practice.
- Create scalable, secure and cost-effective cloud architectures spanning infrastructure, data, analytics and application services.
- Design hybrid and cloud-native solutions using core Azure services, with Microsoft Fabric incorporated where appropriate for data and analytics platforms.
- Ensure architectural designs align with recognised patterns such as landing zones, well-architected framework principles and modern data architecture patterns (e.g. Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture).
- Support and guide technical teams in the implementation of Azure solutions, ensuring architectural integrity and consistency.
- Conduct technical design reviews and provide recommendations to improve performance, scalability, resilience and cost-efficiency.
Client Engagement & Pre-Sales
- Work closely with sales and consulting teams during pre-sales activities, including solution shaping, technical proposals, scoping and estimation.
- Act as a technical authority in client meetings, helping define roadmaps and solution strategies.
- Translate client business requirements into clear, pragmatic Azure solution architectures.
Advisory & Enablement
- Provide architectural guidance and mentoring to internal teams who are new to Azure, supporting their development and confidence in the platform.
- Help define and evolve Azure standards, patterns and accelerators for client delivery.
- Contribute to internal capability building through knowledge sharing, documentation and best practice guidance.
Governance & Best Practice
- Ensure solutions align with Azure governance, security and compliance requirements.
- Support the design and implementation of policies, security controls and cost management frameworks.
- Promote the adoption of Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices across Azure environments.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay up to date with evolving Azure and Microsoft Fabric capabilities and reflect this knowledge in solution design.
- Contribute lessons learned, templates and reference architectures to Amplifi’s knowledge base.
- Support the evolution of Amplifi’s Azure service offering and delivery methodology.
THE ROLE WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE SOME OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Strong experience in designing and delivering cloud solutions, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
- Proven experience operating as a Solution Architect or Senior Cloud Engineer in client-facing environments.
- Hands-on experience designing enterprise Azure architectures across infrastructure, data and application domains.
- Experience incorporating Microsoft Fabric into broader Azure data and analytics solutions.
- Experience supporting or leading technical teams and influencing technical decision-making.
- Previous experience line managing technical consultants
Required Certifications
- AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator
- AZ-305: Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure services including compute, networking, storage, security and identity.
- Strong understanding of Azure architecture patterns, landing zones and the Well-Architected Framework.
- Experience designing secure and scalable cloud environments.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and modern data platform architectures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Bicep, ARM, Terraform).
- Understanding of cloud governance, FinOps and cost optimisation strategies.
- Familiarity with DevOps and agile delivery methods.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and consulting skills.
- Ability to influence and guide teams while maintaining a collaborative approach.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of client-facing delivery environments.
- Proactive, self-motivated and able to handle multiple priorities.
Desirable / Preferred Experience
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric in production environments.
- Experience with data and analytics platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake.
- Experience delivering Azure-based solutions within regulated or enterprise-scale environments.
- Previous experience mentoring or line managing technical team members.
- Additional Microsoft certifications in Azure, Data or Security domains.
